Around the world
I’ve searched for you
I traveled on when hope was gone
To keep a rendezvous
I know somewhere, sometime, somehow
You’d look at me
And I would see the smile you’re smiling now.

It might have been in County Down
Or in New York, in gay Paree or even London town
No more will I go around the world
For I have found the world in you

I can image someone holding his head, banging against the tabletop screaming, “Oh no! It’s another Patrick O’Brian’s book review!”
8 more books to go…
In this book, the focus was a little diverted from Captain Aubrey to his friend, Stephen Mauterin who is also a surgeon, a natural philosopher and a spy for British. This time round, it is more of a spy novel even though the book ended with a climax of a naval battle with the American. A lot of twist and turn in the story that kept me interested.
Upon reaching Botany Bay in the East Indies, Captain Aubrey received the news of war breaking out between British and Americans. He was then ordered to return to England in a despatch vessel to take command of the best ship in the Navy. Returning with him was his friend Stephen Mauterin.
Misfortune began on his journey home when a fire broke out and the ship sank near the Brazillian waters. Both Aubrey and Stephen were rescued by a British frigate, Java, who was on the way to America for war.
Bad luck strike again when both Aubrey and Stephen captured by the American when Java lost the battle with the American. They were sent to Boston for the exchange of prisoners.
In Boston is where the true adventure began. Stephen, who singlely disrupted the entire French intelligence using the American intellengence, was now hunted by the enemies. He had to dodge kidnap and murder by his enemies. And at the same time, rescue his love, Diana Villers. It is almost like watching a James Bond movie. Excitement mixed with romance. With the help of Captain Aubrey, the three of them managed to escape and rescued by a British Frigate, Shannon which was blockading Boston. The book finally ended with a climax one-to-one victory for the British frigate.
Though different, the book is truly well-writtened.

This report came just about the right time..
Strait Times: “Are LCD screens a clear-cut choice?”
Yes! My family is right now looking for a suitable television. The available market right now has three types of television. Cathode-ray tube (CRT) is the old type. Now there are also Liquid Crystal Display and Plasma Display. So which to choose?
The problem with CRT TV is that the bigger the screen, the longer the tube, which makes the TV very bulky. Both LCD and Plasma doesn’t have this problem since their technology allows the TV to be flatter. Another advantage both LCD and Plasma have is that both comsume less energy compared with an equivalent CRT TV.
However images quality for LCD and Plasma TV are not as sharp as CRT TV yet. It is acceptable but too expensive to buy. Probably could can get better image quality from CRT TV with the same amount of money (if space is not a problem).
Another disadvantage for LCD and Plasma TV is that both do not have TV signal input which means you have to connect to any devise that can receive TV signal (e.g. Video Cassette Recorder) in order to watch TV.
So which TV are we going to get? Looks like it will still be a CRT TV (cheaper and got a lot of space at home)

Yup Yup! That’s all for today! Have a beary nice day!

Out to the sea again, to the East Indies..
In this fifth book of the Captain Jack Aubrey and Surgeon-spy Stephen Maturin novel series, Jack and Stephen set off onboard the refitted Leopard to Australia. They were to transport a hold full of convicts, amongst them a dangerous spy whom Stephen had to find ways to spoke the wheels of enemy’s intellegence.
The journey to the East Indies was laid with many difficulties. First an epidemic onboard that decimates the crew and then chased too far south by a superior Dutch man-of-war which Captain Aubrey shook off brilliantly. To add fuel to the fire, float ice left a unpluggable leak and a destroyed rudder, senting the ship in peril. They finally arrived exhausted on Desolation Island for repairs.
Though there is no heart-pumping battles, the story, no doubt, kept me glued. The words are liked flowing water. Once started, it can’t be stopped till the end. Yes! I would stay on with them to East Indies. My hammock is still hanging in the hold of the Leopard.

Busy, Bus, Breakfast…
Like the past usual complains, busy. Nope, I’m not going to whine about my busyness to you anymore.
Bus, #@$%^!!! Sorry for the vulgarity. For the past few days, the bus either left just before I came or leave without stopping at the bus stop. And all the bus I take to school or home requires for me to wait for more than 15 minutes. I’m so pissed last night that I walked home. I even reached home earlier than waiting for the bus that should that me 4 bus stop away. Urrghhh!!!!
The same thing happens this morning again. I feel so much like setting up a bus company and drive the current bus companies to bankruptcy. I know. I know. I shouldn’t be angry over such stupid stuff. Maybe the stress that was builting up in me that makes me so impatient.
In the end, I walked over to the market for my breakfast. I think this is the best thing that have happened since yesterday. I went to eat fishball mince meat noodles that my friends say very nice. (Pardon the singlish. Simply too lazy to amend it to proper english) The noodles tasted very good. I think my dad will love it. A lot of vinegar. ( which I don’t really like) Very Q fishballs and noodles. Smell superbly mouth watering with mushrooms and minced meat mixed with the sauce. No wonder the queue is already 5 to 6 people long when I get there at 8.40am. With a filled stomach, I set off for school again. This time the bus arrived promptly. (Must be the luck from the noodle.)
Tian Hock Teochew Fisball Noodles (Hope I got the name right)
Otherwise look for Stall 191
Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre, used to be a blue colour market
Located between Bukit Timah Plaza and Beauty World
Try to be there early. Usually by 12pm, it closed already.
4 stars out of 5
Yup Yup! That’s all for now. Have a beary nice day!
